To celebrate its founding, the National Center for Art Research held the symposium “National Art Museums Today” on November 26, 2023 in the auditorium of the National Art Center, Tokyo (Roppongi, Tokyo).
The symposium was attended by directors of national art museums and those involved in museum policy from Singapore, the United Kingdom, France, and the United States. These people were joined by the director of Japan's national art museum, and together, they discussed the role of National Art Museums and its contribution to society.
In this video, we asked four guests who came to Japan to speak at the symposium to give their opinions about the roles of museums and the organization today and the possibilities of art and museums in societies now and in the future.
