Teacher and Curator Training Program

About the Program

The training program is for those who are dedicated to Art Education, such as teachers, museum curators, and supervisors. We aim to promote cooperation between schools and art museums in local communities in Japan. It is held at one of the national museums of art, for 2 days during summer each year. For more details, follow below.

Videos of the Program

The sessions as below will be held in the training program.

  • Groupwork

We split the participants in groups so that the teachers, museum curators and supervisors are mixed, and hold a workshop in the museum gallery. The participants experience looking at art through dialogue and share ideas with people who have different backgrounds. Through the workshop, they discuss deeply about how children can engage with art.

  • World Café

In the last session of the two days, participants review and discuss what they have learned through the training program and then think about what they can do from tomorrow when they return to their fields.

  • Lectures

We hold lectures under various themes, such as “Engaging Art at Schools” or “Art in Social Issues”.

  • Case Study Presentations

We introduce good practices of children engaging with art, which are held in museums or schools.
