We promote scientific research and conservation–restoration activities for works in the collections of the National Art Museums. In addition, we share information through workshops, lectures, and the website, contributing to the accumulation and exchange of knowledge related to conservation and restoration both within Japan and internationally.

Workshops & Lectures
At the National Center for Art Research (NCAR), we invite experts of conservation and restoration once a year to hold lectures and workshops, in which the participants can receive direct, hands-on guidance. Lectures for wider audience are also organized in order to gain and share specialized knowledge and insights.
