Study Tours
NCAR organizes the “NCAR Study Tour,” a program for curators and researchers, with the aim of fostering sustained networks among national museums and art professionals both in Japan and internationally. Through this program, NCAR seeks to deepen intellectual exchange and to create opportunities for future collaboration, including joint projects and research initiatives.

Program Overview
The NCAR Study Tour is an open-call program that dispatches curators and researchers based in Japan to destinations abroad, where they visit museums, galleries, international exhibitions, and art fairs. Each program focuses on specific host regions, and through meetings with local art professionals, participants gain multifaceted insights into the art landscape as well as museum operations and practices. By effectively combining site visits and dialogue, the program fosters the exchange of practical knowledge and supports the development of collaborative networks.

- Approximately 7–10 days (depending on the destination)

- Curators and researchers based in Japan
- Support:

- Program-related expenses (major domestic transportation within the host region, partial admission fees, etc.)
- Travel expenses (round-trip international airfare between Japan and the host region)
- Accommodation
- Allowance (in accordance with the regulations of the National Museum of Art, Japan)

- Communication during the program will be conducted in English; interpretation will not be provided.
- Participants are required to submit a report (activity and research record) after completing the program.
