NCAR Talk aims to create a space for open dialogue with participants under a single theme by inviting guests each time in order to familiarize and learn more about the various activities of the National Center for Art Research (NCAR).
"The Japan-Australia Museum Curator Exchange Program" is a project that has been promoted by both countries for over 30 years, based on the “Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Japan and Australia”, and NCAR is responsible for coordinating its implementation. Curator Nicholas Chambers, from the Art Gallery of New South Wales, will be joining us for this second NCAR Talk. Founded in 1871, the AGNSW is one of Australia’s flagship art museums. Located in Sydney on Gadigal land, it is home to diverse collections of historical and contemporary art from Australia and around the world. Mr. Chambers will give insights into how the AGNSW approaches the acquisition and display of 20th and 21st Century art. He will discuss his collection area of “modern and contemporary international art” as a relational field that animates points of connection between different cultural and historical contexts.
