Glass: Dawn of a Dream

The 2026 National Museum Collection Plus has also begun at the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art.

This is a themed exhibition that adds works from the National Museum of Art to the collections of art museums in each area, in order to enrich opportunities for viewing art in the region.

The Studio Glass Movement, which began in the United States in the 1960s, advocated for artists to freely create forms in their own private studios, rather than relying on large-scale factories. This exhibition presents the international evolution of the Studio Glass Movement, featuring works by pioneers Harvey K. Littleton and Dominick Labino from the collection of The National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, alongside pieces from the collection of the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art.

"National Museum Collection Plus" will be held at three venues again this fiscal year. The Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art is the second of these.
