National Center for Art Research (NCAR) have signed an MoU with Tokyo University of the Arts and The University of Manchester

On Saturday, 23 May 2026, the National Center for Art Research (NCAR), part of the National Museum of Art, “Arts-Based Communication Platform for Co-creation to Build a Convivial Society" at Tokyo University of the Arts, and Creative Manchester at The University of Manchester signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on collaboration.

Under this MoU, the three institutions will commence collaborative research activities in fiscal year 2026.

Creative Manchester is a platform that brings together universities, cultural institutions, and local government to advance both research and real-world implementation in the field of creative health in Greater Manchester, where the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) has played a pioneering role in promoting creative health.

This model of collaboration across the cultural, academic, and public sectors closely aligns with the cultural prescribing initiatives being developed by the Art-Based Platform for Co-creation and NCAR. Through this partnership, the institutions will foster knowledge exchange between Japan and the United Kingdom and deepen research in the field of creative health.
